D.A.R.E. Drug Abuse Resistance Education
The South Abington Police Department currently teaches
D.A.R.E. to students at the Abington Heights Middle School located in Newton
Township. D.A.R.E. teaches kids how to recognize and
resist the direct and subtle pressures that influence them to experiment with
alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs. And since between 70% and 90% of
all crime is drug related, it is absolutely vital that we reach the children of
America before it is too late. The SATPD also has a D.A.R.E. Day at the South Abington Park for the students of D.A.R.E. The students get demonstrations in several different fields of emergency services, including Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, and Specialized Police Services.
