The South Abington Police Department currently utilizes and operates with the county wide S.W.A.T. Team. The team is staffed by 20 operators, which includes two team leaders. The team is also served by two police negotiators, a sniper, and team medic. The team is jointly supervised by the Lackawanna County DA's Office and the Lackawanna County Chief's of Police Association.
